Fond a quick fix though; STAND ON THE TOLIET! Or the bed, or whatever happens to be in front of one of those tiny decorative mirrors Mary has! However the mirrors are small, so you have to slowly, starting at your knees, pan upwards to see the whole picture. I wasn't sure if my shirt looked good with my skirt today before church (because the blacks were different blacks) and eventually just gave up. However just as I gave up, stepped off the bed and walked into the hallway Mary walked through and noted, "you look cute". Success.
Church was churchy and I always enjoy going, however I was a bit sleepy during. I didn't have trouble staying awake, at least from what I remember. Har har har. It was super smokey outside this morning because of the wildfires. It was pretty bad, we could even see the smoke in the distance, and the trees were hazy from the smoke passing them. During church I started to wonder about those wildfires. How they spread so quickly and how if love spread that quickly the world would be better... Day dreaming basically.
Next it was time for the beach. We loaded up our bags, changed into our suits, and grabbed a quick chicken salad sandwich on these amazing rolls Mary had. Mary rounded out every meal (except for tonight's) with fruit, and Pete added half a banana to each of our plates. They're both so thoughtful here, I feel like the guest of honor. (Yes, we ate our Taco Bell on dinner plates.)
The beach was AWESOME. Par usual. Mary and I had some girl talk way out in the ocean floating and bobbing with the waves. I decided I would attempt surfing... maybe. Mary got some sun and I think I got a little tanner on my shoulder. Nose: Red. It's always red though. It's my mood indicator perhaps.
After we came home, went out to antique stores, and settled in we started on dinner.
Oh dinner, dinner, dinner. It was absolutely amazing! Mary had a recipe for Spicy Chili Lime Grilled Shrimp with Lemon Avocado sauce! We improvised and made a really good dressing for the salad and some saffron rice.
The dressing was thangy and bold and yummy. It was lemon, brown rice vinegar, dry mustard, cayenne pepper, basil, and oil. We also put tomatoes, cucumbers, pecans, and croutons.
So we marinated the shrimp in a chili-lime-garlic-red pepper flakes-soy sauce-brown sugar stuff then skewered them.
Then grilled them
and then we fixed our plates, yum yum and smothered them with avocado dressing.
I didn't get any pictures of the shrimp with the avocado because it was too yummy and I just inhaled it like a vacuum cleaner. I love how food can make me in such a good mood and spread love. Maybe I can make love wildfires with my food.... Hmmm.
Anyway, I then took glamour shots of Lilly.
Now Mary, Pete (reluctantly), and I are watching Sister Wives because the movie we were watching stopped playing. Darn you, Country Strong.
I'll probably venture down stairs to my room and go to sleep.
Goodnight,
Sarah
